COVID-19 update:

Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan TD, and Minister of State Hildegarde Naughton TD have confirmed the gradual reopening of some road safety services provided by the Road Safety Authority and the driving instruction industry from the 10 May 2021.

The government has decided that Essential Driver Training (EDT) sessions will recommence for those essential workers who have not completed EDT from 10 May. The RSA will also reopen its EDT Online Portal, on 10 May, to allow Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) to upload EDT sessions completed by essential workers.

Please be aware that RSA call agents cannot book or cancel driving tests over the phone or prioritise anyone’s position in the waiting list queue. Driving tests should be managed through our customer portal MyRoadSafety.ie

Where to access the essential worker declaration form

The form can be downloaded directly from this declaration form link or from our webpage:
https://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Learner-Drivers/Driver-Training/. In the event a student turns up without having completed the form, you may wish to have some hard copies available. These can be filled out manually in advance of their training.

Who can complete the form

Only essential workers. Learner drivers can check if they qualify as an essential worker by visiting: https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/c9158-essential-services/

Who to send the form to

Once fully completed, students should email the form to their ADI or alternatively they can print out the completed form and hand it to you in person. You should keep a record of this as the RSA will be contacting ADIs to request completed declaration forms from a random sample of customers.
